Madrid Comedy Festival is an independent, international stand-up festival. It was started by comedians who live in Madrid and thought the city deserved a real comedy festival of its own.
How it started
The festival was founded by Mehdi Mahtaj, a comedian and producer based in Madrid. The idea was simple: Madrid has a busy, multilingual comedy scene, and it deserved an international festival.
The first edition took place in October 2025. Audiences came back night after night, brought friends, and turned a first attempt into a real festival.
Our mission hasn’t changed since: every voice is welcome on our stage, and every language has a place here.

One festival, three chapters.
2025
Edition one
October 2025. Six venues in central Madrid, all sold out. More than 50 comedians from over 20 countries, in Spanish, English, French, Hindi and Italian.
Godparents: Sergio Pazos and Javier Losan. Main sponsor: Teatro Amaya, with support from the Comunidad de Madrid.
2026
Edition two
1–4 October 2026. 35+ shows across 8 venues, in Spanish, English, French, Dutch, Portuguese, Hindi, Italian and Arabic.
President: Rachel Arieff. Godparents: Alberto Closas and Santiago Iturralde.
2027
Edition three
6–7 October 2027, Madrid. Line-up, venues and tickets will be announced on this site and in our newsletter.
