Blueprint
Join Iain Anderson, creator of the award-winning show Traumedy, for a workshop on the art of the “Tragic-Comic” memoir.
Whether you’re writing a solo show, a stand-up set, or a personal essay, this workshop will teach you how to strip away the shame and replace it with craft.
We aren’t here to just “talk about our feelings.” We’re here to turn those feelings into a lethal turn of phrase. Learn how to weaponize your wit, find the absurd in the ache, and turn your experiences into something people want to hear.
You’ll learn how to:
- Find the comedy in difficult or painful experiences
- Turn personal stories into strong material
- Use wit to make difficult subjects funny and engaging
- Find the absurd moments hidden inside real-life experiences
- Shape your ideas into a story with a clear structure
- Develop your own voice as a storyteller
- Start building the blueprint for your own story of resilience
Whether you’re a seasoned storyteller, a new comedian, or simply someone who feels they have something to say, this class is for you.
Please bring any prepared material you may have. It can be a story, some jokes, notes, or an idea you’ve been working on.
Free to attend.
